Lee's Corner

Bizr Drummer LeeHello, good evening and welcome to my corner……So you want to know more about me eh…

Well are you sitting comfortably???....I shall begin.
I think back as far as I can and I can always remember thinking “I want to be a rock star”……..Well I have failed there then :o)

I started playing at the ripe young age of 13 and I can still remember that cold Christmas morning when me, my big sister and two brothers crept down stairs and opened the front room door to find out what Santa had left.
For me it was my very first drum kit.It was an old Ludwig kit.

Filled with excitement I climbed on the stool, picked up the sticks and started to play (So what if it was only about 7:30 in the morning).
If I remember correctly I spent the rest of the day playing along to ABBA’s Super Trooper, which my younger brother had got for Christmas (sad I know but it’s true).

My very first band was formed with a mate (Chris Collins, oh those memories) he used to play guitar and we used to spend hours playing house of the rising sun in his dads garage (no funny comments please!!)
Throughout the many years that I have been playing and the various bands I have come to realise that us drummers are an extremely under estimated and under appreciated species, so much so that even I have occasionally been the target of ridicule and musicians jokes….. most of which originate from them twiddly overplaying guitarists who in many cases don’t class us drummers as musicians (I’m glad to say that the Prawnster is not one of them, as I am aware that he has beaten a few skins himself…ooer missus).

Well it’s time us drummers made a stand and firmly put our foot down (but mind me bass drum I’ve just put a new skin on) and say enough is enough.

The world of the drummer is a fascinating one filled with lots of beating, banging and rhythm :o) No longer should we be referred to as the noisy bastards at the back…..for the talents of the drummer has no depths.

Hopefully by now you have a tear in your eye and feeling quite sympathetic towards drummers so why not take the plunge and preserve our kind and adopt a drummer today. And live happily ever after……..
